Last Saturday we took one of the three road trips from our Portland vacation. It was to the beach with Hema and a group of her friends (and friend's friends). We went to Oswald West State Park which is located just south of the more popular Cannon Beach.

Saturday was one of the two really hot days from our trip, where the temperature was well into the 90s. It was the perfect weather for going to the beach, with the cool air blowing off the ocean. Of course, that meant that a lot of other people also showed up, but most of them left shortly after we got there since it was getting late in the day.

The beach was unlike any other that I have been to, starting with the walk down from the road through a gorgeous forest with giant trees and water flowing everywhere. The beach itself was in Smugglers Cove, with great waves and surfers everywhere. The sand was hard and easy to walk and play frisbee on. The water was shallow, and you could walk 100ft into the water with it only coming up to your ankles (which is a good thing if you didn't have a wet suit). Streams of water came down off steep and rocky hill and cut through the beach to the sea. Between the sand and the outcropping was an region full of rocks and driftwood, where we created a fire when it got colder at sunset.

We certainly saw some picturesque things on our trip.

nice pics!

Nice pictures.. they totally capture the Oregon coast feeling. I like the portrait of Carrie!
